Material on Government's Proposals to reform the
law of Manslaughter
Five
years ago this week, the Rt. Hon. Jack Straw MP,
then Home Minister, promised to reform the law
of manslaughter and enact a new offence of Corporate
Killing. The Centre has obtained a copy
of a letter sent on 10 September 2002 by the Home
Office to industries in the private sector asking
them for their "assessment of the potential
effect" of introducing a new offence of corporate
killing.

Meeting
on Inquests and Work-Related Deaths
The CCA, TUC and INQUEST are jointly organising
a meeting on 9 October 2002 to discuss
the Government's consultation document on the
'Fundamental Review of the Coroners Services'
which proposes that a family would no longer have
an automatic right to have an inquest into a 'work-related
death'.
