TUC/CCA CONFERENCE. 07 JULY 03

Conference on 'Law Enforcement and Corporate Accountability'

Government ministers, MPs from all main political parties, trade unions, employer organisations, bereaved families and the Health and Safety Executive are all speaking at the CCA/TUC's 3rd joint conference on 'Law Enforcement and Corporate Accountability' being held in London on Monday 7 July 2003.

The Conference is taking place at the TUC Congress Centre in Central London. The standard fee is £25 (but £40 for lawyers and businesses)

The conference is titled: 'Making Companies and Organisations Safer’ and looks at the following issues:

• Government Reforms since 1997;
• The proposed new offence of ‘Corporate Killing’
• Imposing Safety duties on Company Directors;
• Sentencing reforms;
• Families seeking accountability;
• Role of Trade unions;

This conference examines progress in, and views on, three key legislative reforms: the new offence of ‘Corporate Killing’ ,the imposition of safety duties upon company directors, and increasing fine levels. It will also address the nature of legal and other initiatives mounted by bereaved families to improve safety and accountability. The conference encompasses views from the bereaved, trades unions, Government and HSE, political parties, the legal profession, employers’ organisations and academia.
