DRAFT
BILLS ON 'CORPORATE KILLING' AND 'DIRECTORS DUTIES'
The CCA has drafted two parliamentary bills - one
which would create a new offence of Corporate Killing
and another which would impose safety duties upon
company directors.
On
both issues the Government has committed itself to
introducing legislation.

In
relation to Corporate Killing, the Home Secretary,
David Blunket stated on 20 May that "it will
publish a draft Bill on corporate manslaughter".

In
relation to Directors Duties, the Government promised
in a report published in June 2000 that. "It
is the intention of Ministers, when Parliamentary
time allows, to introduce legislation on these
responsibilities." (To

The CCA has drafted these bills to further the debate
on the nature of any future legislation.

The
Bills were drafted at the request of the Transport
and General Workers Union who have also published
their own report explaining the need for these two
bills. This was launched on Tuesday 17th June 2003.
